That’s exactly what happened to me on Mother’s Day when I was headed to Canada from Charlotte, North Carolina, carrying a pocket bully pup from Southeast Bully Kennels as a special gift. I was unaware that a forgotten phone experience would lead to unexpected lessons and a deeper appreciation for life’s simple moments.
A Phone-free Dog Shipping International Journey
At the airport, I realized that I had left my phone at home. It was too late to turn back to collect the phone. Things were running as planned, and I could not ruin them.
That day, I learned a very important lesson. Most people are not willing to let you use their phones. A few will only reply if you request them to dial the number and put it on speaker. I realized that these days, you do not usually use a wristwatch or wall clock to keep track of your time. Both are quite rare.
It is mostly your mobile phone that keeps you updated about the time. People are so glued to their blue screens these days that not all like to be disturbed, especially if you are a stranger asking to use their phone for a call. Not surprisingly, I did attract quite a few glances as I sat at the airport without a phone to look at!

Air travel between Charlotte and Vancouver takes about 13 hours, provided there are no cancellations or delays. This is all due to layovers. Plus, you must arrive at the airport at least two hours early for security checks. Amidst all of this, it was kind of peaceful that I did not have my phone with me – actually, being without a digital device and accepting it can be quite liberating.
