2012 ABKC Nationals 2nd place ribbon owned by Southeast Bully Kennels

A Survivor from Our Early Days – Our Ribbon from the Past

Every kennel has a history, full of hard work, dedication, and milestones that shape who we are today.

Southeast Bully Kennels began in 2007, with a vision: to breed American Bullies with exceptional structure, temperament, and heart. In those early years, we worked tirelessly, showing our dogs in the UKC and ABKC, before ABKC paperwork was even available, you had to have UKC paperwork. Back then, UKC registrations for American Bullies were listed as American Pit Bull Terriers, and showing required real-world effort – you had to look up events, show up, pop up your tent, and connect with other breeders in person. There was no Facebook or Instagram, and dog shows were very different from what they are today.

Over the years leading up to 2012, we competed in countless events, winning multiple awards and gaining valuable experience. Many of the breeders we worked with back then are no longer in the industry, and some have even passed away. Those early years shaped our vision and love for the breed.

The 2012 ABKC Nationals

In 2012, we made our first trip to the ABKC Nationals in Dallas, Texas. That year, we earned a 2nd Place ribbon, one of many achievements at that time.

The Ribbon That Survived

In 2022, a fire destroyed one side of our home, consuming much of our early history — photos, paperwork, awards, and our female Luna and her puppies we’re lost. Everything from those years was lost.

This ribbon is the only piece that survived. Burned at the edge and faded from time, it is far from perfect, but it’s priceless to us. Its imperfections tell a story of resilience, of rebuilding, and of a dream that refused to die.

More Than Just a Ribbon

This ribbon represents:

  • Years of dedication to breeding and showing
  • Countless early mornings and late nights
  • A reminder of our foundation in the breed and in the dog world
  • The perseverance that has allowed Southeast Bully Kennels to grow into a nationally recognized kennel

It isn’t just fabric – it’s a symbol of our journey, a reminder of everything we’ve overcome, and proof that hard work and passion endure.

From Then to Now

Since those early years, Southeast Bully Kennels has continued to grow, and place families with top-quality American Bullies and Exotic Bullies across the country.

This fire-damaged ribbon is the only piece left from that era, and it reminds us of where we started – hungry, determined, and passionate.

We may have lost much of our early history, but the fire couldn’t take our love for the breed, our dedication, or the legacy we continue to build.
